Hi, I’m Angie. A yoga and meditation teacher, entrepreneur, writer, speaker, mental health advocate, and human who empowers you to live a life of clarity and energy, rest and relaxation through the life-altering practices of yoga.

Armed with a relentless passion to share the gifts of yoga, I am proud to be creating community and connection, health and healing in the world through movement for stillness. My yoga classes, workshops, and retreats, online programs, and published writing help people like you de-stress and live in peace.

I am a Yoga Alliance registered 200-hour Yoga Teacher and a Trauma Sensitive Yoga Teacher, having trained through the Trauma Center at the Justice Resource Institute.  As a former triathlete, my original yoga teacher training is in Power Yoga. I have grown to appreciate the deeply restorative benefits other types of yoga can offer as well and am a certified Yin Yoga Teacher and hold a mini-Restorative Yoga Teacher Certificate.

I am also a Level 2 iRest® Yoga Nidra Teacher, accredited by the Integrative Restoration Institute in California.  iRest is practiced and taught by thousands of people worldwide in a number of different organizations that support well-being. It is taught in correctional facilities, U.S. military hospitals, clinics, schools, hospices, community centres, and yoga studios. In June of 2010, iRest was endorsed by the U.S. Army Surgeon General and Defense Centers of Excellence as a Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). I am honoured to share the teachings of iRest, which not only aids in general wellness and relaxation, but has been proven helpful for P.T.S.D., anxiety, sleep difficulties, chronic pain, and other issues.

Whether you are seeking gentle yoga, yoga on the dock, or more vigorous yoga for strength-building, I am dedicated to teaching high-quality, professional, insightful, informed yoga.  I have studied extensively with Richard Miller, one of the top ten meditation teachers in the U.S.A.. I have also taken courses with Jane Clapp, a global leader in movement for healing, Andrea Peloso, a long-time student of Judith Hansen Lasater, renowned global yoga teacher Seane Corn, and more.

I believe in yoga that honours your body, explores your mind, and allows you to experience deep rest. I can’t wait to support you in feeling calm and peaceful through my gentle yet empowered approach to yoga!

I am also a mental health advocate and am trained in Mental Health Sensitivity, Mental Health First Aid, and ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training).  In my career as an elementary school teacher, I am on the Mental Health Steering Committee for Trillium Lakelands District School Board and present nationally on the topics of health and wellness. I also love leading yoga and meditation retreats in nature!

Why yoga and what do I do?

I am proud to say I am a traumatic brain injury and P.T.S.D. survivor. Along this recovery journey, I came to understand the healing and transformative power of yoga firsthand. Yoga supported my recovery from the physical injuries of an accident and, more importantly, also helped me shift mentally from a constant state of debilitating anxiety to a peaceful, meaning-filled life…pose by pose and breath by breath.  Armed with this unique understanding of trauma, P.T.S.D., and the transformative power of the tools of yoga, my work in this world is dedicated to supporting you in creating a life that feels good and is heart-centred and purpose-driven!

My business offers individual and group classes and workshops on yoga, meditation, trauma and anxiety healing, stress and illness recovery, mental health awareness and education, and connection with the natural world. I believe in making the world a better place through yoga and donate ten percent of all my yoga income to local and global causes that serve humanity. Find out more about how I can support you on my services page. I am a yoga and meditation teacher based in Muskoka, Ontario but helping those in Canada and around the world via the internet.
